THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW
so sad the pic cant be resized or it will look ugly...but thats the movie i watched today...was a pretty good movie, i must say...found sum parts a bit nonsensical and illogical but overall, it was a good movie...it was almost full house at Lido theatre...dunno why got so many ppl...and as my dad drove thru orchard rd just now, there were so many ppl still walking by the streets even when it was almost 10? ok maybe i'm just not the orchard kid so i wun know whether this is an isolated case or its just the same scenario everynite at orchard rd...but anyway, shall make my comments abt the movie...i din expect much from the movie cos in the first place, i wasnt craving for any particular movie...but the movie kinda moved me...and believe me, it moved me to tears in sum parts...not that the plot is so cleverly woven or what, but just the actions of humans in the face of adversity...oh btw, pls dun think i was tearing badly, i wasnt...u know, just a lil tear swimming in my eyes, the kind that doesnt fall...k back to the movie...yea to know that there may still be REAL humans around, thats touching...to be loved and to love, thats really a miracle...cos it has the power to shape the way ppl behave...to make ppl realise that their existence on planet Earth is not just for sake of their own...also, to know that a person whom u dun even know can help u in times of adversity, thats a relief and a joy...the movie kinda portrayed these, so thats the good part...but to look at it from another perspective, the cynical side of me was thinking: Do pple need to experience difficult times first before they turn human? I mean, if i remember one scene correctly, the vice-president still dint wanna heed the prof's advice to evacuate the ppl until the very last min...oh yea talking abt the vice-presi, he became presi as the presi cdnt be saved...and he was thanking the countries that took them as their area got enveloped in ice...he realised that the ppl tat took them in are those 3rd world countries...haha i was kinda happy when he was making the speech...to see the US dwarfed for once, even tho it was only a movie...i mean, it showed that even a gigantic nation such as the US can face difficult probs and may need to seek other countries' help when need be, n also showed that US is not the indomitable force afterall...cos the forces of Nature cant be trifled with...yea, so i think the show was good cos it was kinda thought-provoking for me? i dunno abt others but i think it was gd...the effects were great too...just a lil nonsense here and there...like how come it's called "The Day After Tomorrow", when there were so many days involved before the big storm actually swept North America...and how the russian ship sailed so nicely thru the buildings and ended up in front of the public library so that the survivors could take food from there...abit too good to be true, but then again, miracles do happen...so, the good parts kinda made up for the bad parts...for those who are thinking of watching it, go ahead...the movie wun please everyone but its quite worth the $6.50...
