oh well, life hasnt been that exciting so that explains the absence of new posts since january the 8th. like i said in my previous post, i wasnt excited about the new semester. and i'm still not excited abt it now that it has started. tonnes of readings to read, many tonnes more to zap and print. but for the past week, i haven been doing any reading apart from one euro reading entitled "Theories of European Integration"...super shitty i tell u, and the best part of it all was that the lecturer didnt even do a proper lecture. he just told us about the course outline and the texts which are useful for the module. so yea, beside that reading, i didnt do any proper work this week. hmm i think i shall just talk about each lecture that i attended the past week. since that pretty much made up what was my first week in school...
SSA2202 Changing Landscapes of Singapore
first lecture of the week. we came on the dot, at 2pm. me, angel and trina had to sit on the last row...on those chairs without the table for u to write on. surprisingly the LT was damn full. as in usually even if i have lessons at LT 11, the LT is not that packed maybe until 15mins after the lecture starts...sumtimes its not even full, as in the case of EL1101e lecture...haha maybe thats becos it was at 8am and many ppl just forgo the lect. oh well, so the SS lecturer started by explaining some housekeeping matters and asked who are from which faculty. we were supposed to raise our hands when she asked for FASS yr 1, 2, 3, science, business and so on. me and trina were sorta shocked that for once, we were the minority in our own faculty. science students formed the majority...haha...anyway, when the lecturer started her lecture proper, she went off like a bullet train. i dunno what she was rushing for when she only had 7 pgs of notes. and most of that 7pgs were filled by pictures...she put quite a few LOTR pics oso...so i was pretty lost when she talked about the different imagined landscapes. like what the shit lar, i didnt watch the movie and i am not interested in it. but apart from the LOTR pics and the lecturer's speed, i found everything pretty ok.
SC2212 Sociology of Deviance
I'd say the lecture was very exciting but I'd haf loved it more if the lecturer had some form of concrete notes. even if he doesnt use powerpoint, he cd haf just typed a proper outline of each lecture in MS word. cos he's the type that rambles about sth for v long when it is his favourite topic. so sumhow, i lost track of what to write, and when to end my group of points and start on the next bullet. but the lecture itself was interesting. the lecturer was funny and he kept talking about bureaucracy. and oral sex. tat was his favourite topic of the day man...he'd link almost any point to the example of the law regarding oral sex...oh yea, and he was holding his water bottle throughout the whole lect. no idea why...anyway, i just hope the subsequent lectures will be interesting as well...and hope that i'll learn how to take proper notes...
EU2217 Politics of Contemporary Europe
Honestly, i didnt even read the module outline on the FASS list of modules before bidding for it, cos i tot i'd be doing another module with my fren. but anyway due to changes in our plans, we'r now doing different euro mods...so i'm gg to learn about the European Union. argh i hate politics, but there were only 2 euro mods up for grabs[of cos not many wanted to grab them actually] this semester. if i did 20th century history, i'd have serious problems with getting the french lecture slots that are most frenly in terms of the lecture times. so yea, i hope i'll do ok for this module. and i was lucky i made one friend. haha thats quite enuff in a class of 35 lar. i'll make more along the way yea...
SC2217 Sociology of Tourism
lecture was fine but the lecturer was funny. funny not cos she likes to joke ard or what, but she cant keep still. haha when she entered the LT, i thought she really looked like a traveller. and when she spoke, i thought her accent sounded like julia roberts'. i told ying ling abt it....and towards the end of the lecture, ying ling told me she sorta understood what i meant. haha...anyway the lecturer confessed that she's sumwhat a chaotic person. she like dunno how to use the ppt, but hey at least she managed to come up with the slides. we dint have any slides for deviance! oh yea, she said that she'd publish the course outline and the readings on the IVLE...but haha the next day we still didnt see anything on IVLE. of cos those stuff appeared eventually lar, but i still find it funny...think maybe cos she's not very familiar with IT stuff. she wasnt even sure wat to click to start the ppt slideshow...nevertheless quite interesting. we'll discuss abt our experiences as a traveller using photos and souvenirs in tutorials. and next week got movie to watch during lect. yay!
LAF1201 French I
the lecturer looked different from his photo on the notice board. as in he looks much thinner...anyway, he sounded quite singaporean at times...especially when he was talking to the technician at the beginning of the lecture. well, it was just a briefing so we didnt learn anything. i tried accessing CYBERDUPONT yesterday, and it looks quite cool. tried the "tu" and "vous" exercise and haha i was quite lucky to get it all correct. basically, i just listened out for the "tu" and "vous"...anyway, i know french is not gg to be easy and huiyu advised against taking this mod if i wanna preserve my CAP. well, if i'm gg to continue majoring in european studies, french is my major module anyway. so, all i can say is good luck to myself...and also trina, as she's also taking french...
