ok i didnt keep my word. i didnt write when i returned home yesterday. sigh maybe i've lost the essence of my topic when i got home. anyway, i'll still sorta talk abt something related to the past. which is life in primary and secondary school. of course i'm not attempting to exhaust myself by narrating my whole life story in those 10 yrs, but well, i'll sorta make comparisons between my life then and the lives of kids nowadays. actually, i'm just trying to compare my life then with my cousin's.
but before that i shall mention that looking at sec sch kids lugging their badminton rackets and shoebags ard brings back many memories. they r having their zone tournaments now i guess, since my pri 6 brother is also having soccer tournament right now. haha btw, to digress, i was surprised my bro was named captain for his sch's soccer team lar. quite a feat man....captain of ur team at pri 6. i only achieved it like much much later, so kudos to him! n he's scored in the last 2 matches too....which is of cos, fantastic, being a defensive midfielder...c'est magnifique! so yea, gg back to the subject of tournaments, i used to love it alot cos thats when everybody became super united. whatever differences were resolved, or at least forgotten for the time being, while we supported our respective teams with only one goal in mind. and of cos, i loved the tournament period cos i could skip so many lessons! its like going to sch only to board the bus after assembly to go off for tournament. my class had quite a number of sports players and of cos, it was so fun to skip lessons together. can run away from tan ying's boring physics lessons...another reason i loved tournaments was becos my fitness level would be at its peak. the best time to torture me with PT n what not was during dec to april. even if i felt tired or what, i'll still do what we're supposed to do...haha and after the match can skive abit n sorta escape without being scolded, cos when i reached home, i was oredi too tired to do any homework...pass up homework late and blah. in JC couldnt do much of that lar, but hey at least no need to go for some lessons...so anyway, that was me trying to understand why i loved tournaments.
on to my cousin's life. she's in pri 6 now and i'm her tutor for malay...that means her saturday is gone, cos thats when i have tuition with her. mondays-fridays of cos got sch...but i was shocked to find that everyday after school, she has something on.
monday is her only "less busy" day.
tuesday: group tuition for EMS[eng,maths,sci].
wednesday: CCA.
thursday: religious class.
friday: group tuition again for EMS.
thats very nonsense man. if i were to compare my pri sch days with her, i can say that i was really occupied only on one day after sch, when i had higher malay lessons. i was basically free on the rest of the days after sch hours. had mendaki on sat but it only lasted abt 2 hours each session. so i'm wondering, why is my cousin so busy? i used to think that tuition is really crap cos it takes up too much time and tuition means more homework. mendaki in pri 6 was an exception cos it was the PSLE yr and of cos must be more "on" abt it. still, my aggregate score improved by only 3 points after that whole year of tuition. so i concluded that tuition is pretty useless. no more tuition for me since then...experienced a few hiccups here n there in sec sch when i failed maths for the first time, but haha still didnt go for tuition. no point i thought, since i didnt like the subject itself. but hey, now i think tuition is important. and u know why?
cos it brings in the money for me...haha! cos i'm at the receiving end, altho must go my cousin's house and teach her malay[teaching malay is quite crappy i tell u] lar. the cash goes to me! haha...ok i'm getting crappy. but oh well...even though i like tuition now cos thats my source of income, i still think its a stupid idea to send kids for tuition. primary school leh...give them some breathing space lar...i spent my primary school years doing homework in front of the TV, and still scored a decent aggregate to get into TKGS[then ranked 6th]. my brother nv go for tuition too[haha when he went for tuition, his marks dropped drastically summore]...so why do people need to go for tuition? sociologically speaking, it serves a function. the only function i can think of now is to provide income for people like me. cos without the demand for tutors, people like me who survive on tuition pay will basically not be able to run our lives properly. then we'll suffer from anomie. then we may find the expression of insatiable desires in criminal and deviant activities because of the lack of financial resources which does not permit us to realise our material desires. omg...how did i reach here man?! must be those deviance lectures infiltrating my mind...wonder what trina will say when she sees this...
